BIRD A – Frame Step Over

BIRD A – Frame Step Over

Today I had the opportunity to take the new Bird Bike once more closely under the magnifying glass. On the solid aluminum frame are various components installed, which I still know from the 80 / 90s, such as the square bottom bracket BSA and the cassette from Shimano MF-TZ500-7. Further, the bird is equipped with Tektro disc brakes, but these are not hydraulic, but classic with cable.

The only piece of high tech is probably the display. Some people already know this from the Bird scooters, which can be connected to the Bird app via Bluetooth.

The driving experience is safe and quite fun using flat roads, on the way to the lake or to work and through the city. This is ensured by the 250W strong rear hub motor from Bafang. However, I advise against mountain tours, for which the rear motors are not predestined.

Maintenance costs will be limited during the annual inspection.

Conclusion: A successful stylish commuter bike at a reasonable price.
